I want to thank Howard Hamilton for posting the information on the death of Lt Norman Charles Wettestead on this website. After Lt Wettestead left the USS Valley Forge it appears he was promoted to LCDR and assigned to the USS New Jersey BB-62 as the Electrical Officer. The New Jersey was recommissioned on 6 APR 68 and made one cruise to Vietnam before being decommissioned on 17 DEC 69. Mr Wettestead was transfered sometime before the NJ was decommissioned. According to information I found, he was a CMDR when he left the Navy. He never attended any of the USS New Jersey Veterans reunions, that I know of, so I was never able to talk to him and of course I didn't hop-knop with officers while on the NJ. Howard asked me to post a message here so that you guys would know where Lt Wettestead went on to serve after he left the USS Valley Forge.
