On Saturday November 7th 1998 10:04:06 flowers were placed here in Honor of Larry Cecil Cornwell Although I only had the priviledge of knowing Larry a short time he was a man of honor and pride and even though he lived with almost unbearable pain, Larry was always a pleasant man to me. You see he is the name on my POW/MIA bracelet. I have had my bracelet for about four years now. I have even had to have it replaced because I bent it so much it was falling apart. The company I got it from had said that you could not request a certain soldier, which is how I ended up with his name, but my mom insisted and they allowed her to order a duplicate bracelet. My friends notice when I am not wearing my bracelet. Through some research I have located a family member of my soldier. That ment a lot to me. Murray Ferndale Michigan Rob was due to be discharged from the Marines just six weeks before his helicopter went down in the ocean off Okinawa in 1985. We had gone to high school together. I'd gotten married 18 months before, and had just had my first baby. I was so excited that Rob was going to come home so he could see the baby, when I saw the newspaper article "Ferndale Marine Won't Have His Homecoming". My heart broke. A year later, at our 5-year reunion, I saw Rob's twin brother Rich and broke down again. Rob was a gentle man, and a friend to all. He is still missed by many. His body was never recovered.
