On Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at 19:26:28 a tribute was placed here to Honor Charles E. Key -Pfc. World War II
This is my father and he died on June 19,1997.He was a loving father and a devoted husband of 50 years. There is not a day goes by that I do not think about him and all the love that is still in my heart for him. While going through some of his papers I found this poem I would like to share with everyone that reads this web page. WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT? The ground was red and gory Where the dying soldier lay. On his mind were thoughts about his home And about a better day. Oh, I've thought, a thousand times, Why do they want men to die this way, With your face in the dirt, Without a word of comfort, Not one word of bliss. Their body is full of bullet holes, And their blood is seeping out. Their blood cries out to the heavens, Why are we all dying; What's this all about? Maybe in a distant tomorrow When these war lords die out, With a soft summer night, the stars all out, With our faces toward God, We will know "What it's all about." Good-bye daddy and may you always rest in peace. Your loving family. by Jo Ruth Winitsky from Athens, Tennessee, E-mail address: winitsky@usit.net |

Walt is my husband and I did not think a lot about Vietnam until I married him. He still has a hard time with loud noises. I wish there was more that I could do to help him, but there isn't. He is a very good man and I wonder how many other men are out there like him. They will live with Vietnam and all the horror for the rest of their lives. Men like him are what keeps this country free. God Bless my husband and a veteran. by Jo Ruth Winitsky from Athens, Tennessee, E-mail address: winitsky@usit.net |

This is dedicated to my father, William M. Hersh, who was able to return home after the war was over, and spend his life as an inspiration of hope for his family, only to pass on in 1984. We miss him more than words can express. And to his beloved twin brother, my Uncle Arthur Hersh, who died much too young, on the island of Leyte, just months before the war ended. I will always miss not having gotten the opportunity to know him. And God Bless so many others, men and women, who also served their nation in WWII. Their sacrifices were not in vain. by Naomi Hersh Clackum from Bell Florida, E-mail address: clackum@alltel.net |

You served your nation when ww2 required your services in the Marine Corps. But Peace proved an elusive goal and was too short lived. Again you carried yourself proud and ready to the shores of Korea where the winters bite cut deep into the soul testing the will as much as the fire from a determined foe. But now you have entered your final rest. Your gift is not only the proud children, now grown, but also the freedom we breath that you so labored to enjoy. The moment when you died My heart was split in two, One side filled with memories The other died with you. I think of you in silence, I always speak your name, For all that's left are memories Your picture in a frame. They say there is a reason, They say that time will heal, But neither time nor reason Helps the pain I still feel For no one knows what I would give To sit with you a while. Your resting place I have visited, And placed a rose there with care But no one knows the heartache When I had to leave you there. Forever loved and never forgotten. I will always love you. On Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at 15:34:37 a tribute was placed here to Honor Charles R. Fellenz
Although I had never met Charles, I felt like I knew him. Since 1985 I had worn his MIA/POW bracelet around my wrist. He even walked me down the aisle, the day I was married. You don't see too many young adults with those bracelets on, I felt proud when someone would ask what was on my wrist. I mourned the anniversary of his crash. A few years back I heard from a relative that they had found remains of a C130 in Laos, and called his hometown paper to see if this was true, it was. He is finally on American soil, where he and his commrads should be. Unfortunatly, his father passed on before finding, at least I know they are joined together now. This site is dedicated to CMS Charles R. Fellenz, who went down on November 24, 1969. by Kris from Wisconsin, E-mail address: millie7usa@netscape.net |

On Saturday, February 19, 2000 at 15:42:02 a tribute was placed here to Honor Edward I. Beige
In loving memory of our father, and grandfather, who passed away quietly in his sleep on April 13, 1994. He died so suddenly, there were no clues that he was going to have a massive heart attack.I was pregnant with my second child, only weeks before she made her arrival. He wanted so badly to have a grandaughter, as we had already given him his first grandson. My son was only 20 months old when he left, but in that short time he had already made such an impact in his life. one of my biggest regrets that he is no longer here, is that he will never have the chance to meet my other three girls. He was the greatest father in the world, and I know he would have made a wonderful grandpa. 47 years is such a short life to live, and you never know when it will end. Always believe in the ones you love, and they will always believe in you.Dad we miss you so much with every passing day. We love you with our whole hearts. by Christina Thomas from Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, E-mail address: cthomas072@aol.com |

My Cousin, My Fellow Soldier We may not have shared in the closeness many cousins do, but the tie we have is much further than cousins Ben gave more than most are willing....precious moments away from family and friends, his ability to say 'NO, I won't do that' without fear of retribution, listen to superiors whether right or wrong, and most importantly what most don't understand.. give your life in support of peacetime or wartime to defend the US Not all soldiers, man or woman, die in wartime... On Wednesday, January 26, 2000 at 02:20:01 a tribute was placed here to Honor Raymond Eugene Wooley and Arthur Lawrence Wooley
These are two of my brothers. Raymond served in the South Pacific in the Army Air Corps. He died in an auto accidnet in 1953. Arthur "Larry", who passed away July 15, 1999, served in the United States Marines, at American Samoa, before the Pearl Harbor Attack. He was at Iwo Jima, and survived. He was a truck driver for many years and has now, "got the pedal to the metal", "Rolling around Heaven all day" We miss both of them. As the WW-II vets are leaving us, about a thousand each day, We owe them a lot. My family answered the call, and proudly salute, the Flag of the United States of America, The Greatest Country in the World. I wish to pay my last respects to the many that gave the ultimate sacrifice. May God Hold them in his arms. My best wishes go out to all of the Great VETs, that are hospitalized, Especially to my twin, Boyd, at the Claremore OKLAHOMA VET Center, at Claremore , Oklahoma. by Lloyd Wooley from Longview, Washington, E-mail address: lwooley@tdn.com Website: Wooleys of Oklahoma |

On Sunday, January 23, 2000 at 10:16:43 a tribute was placed here to Honor GEORGE "BUCKY" EISENBERGER
MY FIRST COUSIN, BUCKY, WAS OUR/MY FAMILIES PRIDE AND JOY [TO BE WITH OR JUST TO BE AROUND]. A MORE LEVEL HEADED AND CONCERNED MAN NEVER LIVED. I NEVER KNEW ANY OF HIS BUDDIES IN THE BIG RED ONE [HE WAS KIA IN THE DI AN AO], BUT I KNOW THEY WOULD AGREE WITH MY SUMMATION OF HIS PERSONALITY. IT REALLY WAS ALL BUT IMPOSSIBLE TO NOT LIKE HIM. HIS LOSS AFFECTED THE FAMILY AND HIS FRIENDS BEYOND DESCRIPTION, AND WITHIN A YEAR HIS OWN YOUNGER BROTHER, TWO OTHER COUSINS AND MYSELF ALL JOINED UP AND ALL WENT TO VIET NAM TO GET SOME MEASURE OF REVENGE ON THE PEOPLE WHO TOOK HIM FROM US. NOW IT APPEARS WE SHOULD TAKEN OUR ARMS AND GONE EAST TO DC SINCE THAT IS WHERE THE REAL VILLAINS LURK, NOT IN THE BUSH OF A POOR, BACKWARD COUNTRY WHOSE OWN PEOPLE SUFFERED EVEN MORE THAN DID OURS "BODY COUNT"-WISE. ANYWAY, I'M PROUD OF MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO SERVED IN THE MILITARY, BUT I DO NOT HARBOR SUCH FEELINGS FOR THE ONES WHO WOULD SEND OUR YOUNG AND MOST PROMISING PEOPLE TO FURTHER THEIR OWN AGENDA'S. MAY OUR DEARLY DEPARTED BROTHERS AND SISTERS REST IN PEACE AND NEVER AGAIN HAVE TO PAY THE ULTIMATE OR ANY PRICE BECAUSE OF A MONSTER LIKE LBJ AND THE OTHER POL'S, NOT ONE OF WHOM EVER HAD TO BEAR ARMS IN DEFENSE OF OUR NATION OR THE WORLD. PLEASE REMEMBER THE LESSONS THE 'NAM TAUGHT US AND PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN.... P.S. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE YOU HAVE FOR US TO VISIT AND REMEMBER. I HOPE YOU ARE NOT OFFENDED BY MY MUSINGS. I JUST FEEL SO BAD NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE BUCK AND THE OTHERS HERE TO ENJOY I HAD TO SAY SOMETHING BECAUSE I KNOW THEY WOULD BE SAYING IT WERE I IN THEIR PLACE AND THEY WERE HERE. by Jess Paul Tomey from Pawhuska/Tulsa, OK, E-mail address: jptomey@yahoo.com |

On Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 00:01:09 a tribute was placed here to Honor LCPL. BENJAMIN H. GEARHEART
In HONOR of ~LCPL BENJAMIN H. GEARHEART~ Ben was born and raised in Galloway, Ohio and moved to Franklin Tennessee in 1992. He was a 22 year old Marine who died on 8/27/97. His LAV went down a 1200 ft. embankment during a military training maneuver on base at Camp Pendleton, California Most Americans are not aware that up to 1800 of our GI s die every year in training accidents. I sadly was one of the uninformed. He had been in for three years. I worried myself sick while he was in Kuwait and was so relieved when he returned to American soil. Three Marines at my door changed that. Ben was a third generation Marine and was so proud to be serving our country. So dear to my heart was the sound of his laughter. No matter how bad things were he somehow managed to put a smile on your face. If you were bored, he became your entertainment. He lived his life with such passion, and captured every detail as if through the eyes of a child. I miss him so much I just can't stand it. Gone But Not Forgotten "A Soldier Marching Forever In Grace" May you rest in peace Benny G. 12-24-74 / 8-27-97 I Love you Benji, Mom by Brenda Gearheart from Franklin, Tn., E-mail address: BennyG2474@aol.com |
