On Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at 12:20:30 a tribute was placed here to Honor Jack Joe Deaton
I never had the privilage of meeting my Uncle Jack. He was killed in Viet Nam almost 20 years before I was born. There's a picture of him in his uniform in my mom's house. She cries when he is mentioned. You see, his body was brought back the day after Christmas. They had no Christmas that year. Some of my mom's letters were returned and that broke her heart. So today, I want to lay a rose in Remembrance of my Uncle Jack, who died for his country in the most hostile war of all. He is still remembered and still loved. Though I never knew him, I miss him with all my heart. by Cortney from Georgia, E-mail address: cortney_1@yahoo.com |

These are all men of my immediate family who served in the US Military, with honor, in the Navy WWII, Army Vietnam, and Marines, some served during peace time and some served during war time, I know no one returned the same. Some returned scarred with war and some returned with more respect and honor for where they lived and the freedom they now realized. God's Promise to you is Freedom: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. John 8:32,36 IPeter 2:16. Thank you to every person who ever was issued a military uniform, Thank you to every Mother who ever walked a son to a train, plane, or bus with tears and a broken heart, Thank you to every wife who stayed back home and took care of things, Thank you to every father who knew where his son or daughter was going and knew they may never see each other again on this earth. On Sunday, May 27, 2001 at 11:24:10 a tribute was placed here to Honor Darrell Wayne Letourneau
I'm writing this for my husband. He was in Vietnam for 5 years. Classified as a Specialist 6, whatever that means. He was in demolitions - Special Forces. I met him when he was 37 years old and we've been married now for 18 good years and have 3 beautiful children to prove it. We went out yesterday morning and put our flags out by the highway in front of our beach house as we do every year to remember those who served and came back and those who didn't make it back. I've just always like the thought that people driving down our small highway would appreciate that someone remembers those who didn't come home. I'm just so glad my husband did. I don't have the words to tell you how proud of him I am. by Terry White Letourneau from Houston, Texas, E-mail address: TLetou5555@aol.com |

On Thursday, May 24, 2001 at 18:54:42 a tribute was placed here to Honor Donald I. Rankin
Army SP4 Donald Irvin Rankin started his tour of duty on Tuesday, August 1966. He was killed in combat on November 24, 1966. Don was my college roommate, best man in my wedding and my best friend. The week before his tour of duty began he spent time visiting with me. I remember the day we went out in the desert north of Scottsdale, Arizona. He said that he wouldn't be coming back. The day I took him to the airport to begin his tour was a difficult day for both of us. I remember the day I received a call telling me of Don's death ... Thanksgiving Day. The pain I felt was deep and has never really gone away. I have visited his gravesite a number of times in Paris, Kentucky. It is still painful. Seeing his name on the Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. was no easier. Don was a very special person. In so many ways he was my brother. Through difficult times of trying to continue his education, times of laughter and fun, times of things we did that have become special memories .... Don was a special person in every way. His death is constantly with me but his life is what I remember most. He was God's special gift to me and to so many others who knew him. On Thursday, May 24, 2001 at 11:43:24 a tribute was placed here to Honor My Grandfather
My Grandfather was a hard Man to get to know. It seemed so hard for him to show his love. I knew growing up that he was in World war 2 But did not know all the details. Sence My Grandfather's death (over 5 years ago) i have learned much more about that war and how it must have been frightning to a young Marine as he was just a teenager. I have heard the things that happened to him and have come to understand my Grandfather so much more. Athough I know it was hard for him to show his love, I know he loved me. If my Grandfather was alive today I would tell him that I love him and I am proud he is my Grandfather and for the bravery he showed in World War 2. I love you Grampa, Thank You! by Rachal Messenger from Russell Massachusettes, E-mail address: ssrm1247@msn.com |

Never the Same I saw you standing there In your crisp white uniform My heart skipped a beat, Do I dare say Hello? How do we meet? Your gaze met mine In a room full of people Yet in that moment We were alone. You reached out and touched my heart My life was never the same. Your precious smile and deep blue eyes Captured my entire being. How happy we were, for a moment in time. But war had it's own agenda. When you died , my heart died with you. My life was never the same. See you at the "Wall" Memorial Day. With All My Love, Lil by Lil Abrams from Toronto Canada, E-mail address: lilystoy@idirect.com Website: My Home Page |
