Thank you Dad for being a father to us. I miss you so much but I know that through it all you stood in harms way so that we could all be free. We talk about you all the time and often find ourselves drifting into silence. Thank you for the gift of life,we carry you with us wherever we go...so many battles you have fought..Korean,WWII and Vietman...on every shore so that we could be free. We will never forget..as long as we continue to breathe we will honor you in everyway we can....and I suppose the greatest gift that we will ever have is Jesus Christ our Lord, and I know that today you are with Him. We will all see you again someday...until then, I just want to close by telling you that there is joy in the morning. I lift my eyes to the sky and know that you are with Him now...and all is well. Thank you Daddy. You are and always will be our hero because I know you are still covering your post and watching over us with God, the Father of us all. Love has no ending. This is a very sad week for us as Americans. The whole nation grives with you. I consider all those who perished in the attack to be an American hero! To the recuse workers...Thank You! As President Bush put is so perfectly...thank you for making us proud! It wasn't unitl this week, unfortunately, that I understood what United stands for in United States of American. We as Americans know the true meaning of patriotism. And united we will stand, and we will come out of this stronger than before!!!! I would like to ask God to be with those who have lost a loved one or have a loved one that is missing. Give them the strength and the guidance to go on. That he watche over the rescue workers, keeping them safe as their search continues. To our military personnel, that they also are kept safe as America brings the perpetrator of these bombings to justice. And lastly, but certianly not least, our Children. Let them not have learned a lesson of hatred, but a lesson of love. People reaching out to help others in need. I am proud to be an American....and feel honored to be living in a land of freedom. Thank you to all who fought for to give me this freedom!!!! GOD BLESS THE USA by Mary Ann from Pennsylvania, |

On Friday, August 24, 2001 at 01:18:26 a tribute was placed here to Honor Thomas Edwin Blevins, Sr USN MCB3, 2nd pl, A company, He gave it all!
Thomas E. Blevins, EON2, 590-68-33 MCB3, Viet Nam 1966 Chu Lai, Viet Nam, 1967, Phu Bai, Viet Nam USN Seabee 3, BETTER THAN THE BEST!!!!! My Dearest Tommy, You did not die in Viet Nam, but Viet Nam eventually killed you. Your government still refuses to honor you, but I will, your name is not on the "wall" but it's in my heart and will be until the DAY I DIE!!!!! I was only 14 years old when we met and fell in love, you were 16. We married when you were 19 and I was 17. You were only 21 years old the first time you went to Nam, and I missed you so! I prayed so hard for you and you came home, and then they sent you back a second time, and you came home again!! Now, after all these years, you're now gone, I did not know about Agent Orange, I was just so glad to have you home!! You were 55 years old when you died and we had almost 36 years of marriage together, some stormy, some wonderful. We did not know that you were dying. We had no idea, we had been told that the tumor had been killed. We thought that we still had many, many years left together. Little did we know...... You are the love of my life, I will love you forever, I lost you to cancer on April 21, 2001 and still miss you, always will. I will see you at the resurection, but until then, please hear me now, If tears could build a starirway, And mmemories were a lane, I would walk right up to heaven, And bring you back again. No farewell words were spoken, No time to say goodbye, You were gone before we knew it, And only God can tell us why. Our hearts still ache with sadness, And many tears still flow, What it meant for us to lose you, No one will ever know. But now we know you want us, To mourn for you no more. But remember all the happy times, for life has much in store. You will never be forgottem. We pledge to you today, a place within our HEARTS, Is where you'll always stay!! I have this engraved in stone sitting on my front porch. We did not know about Agent Orange when you were diagnosed with lung cancer in November, 1999. We found out about it later. Now we know, you gave it all!! Your grandchildren when you died did not understand, your daughter who does not have any children now does not understand. She did not have a "Daddy" to give her away at her wedding, only an unlighted candle "In Memory" at the altar. But she knew you were there and so did I. To all of you Viet Nam vets out there, please, please get checked, the time has run out, so they say, but if you have cancer or do not feel right, please please, please get checked. Tommy and I did not know about the Agent Orange claims (can you believe that?) We had no idea that the government had acknowleged its extistence!! Tommy was very closed-mouthed about his tour in Nam (perhaps because the government told him to be) But, the stories he told me were nightmares from hell. WELCOME HOME!!! Much love to all of you who served your country in all of the wars!!! Because of you, we are all blessed, and some can sit on their backsides and deny the the rest of us our just benefits! Once again, WELCOME HOME!!!!!!! Sincerely, Sandra Blevins by Sandra Blevins from Prattville, AL, E-mail address: dsp30@juno.com |

Larry loved the Navy. He was wounded on board ship by a plane that flew over his ship and straffed it and he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He never lost his love of the sea and all that purtained to it.He passed away on January 30, 2001 He never talked about the war but about the friends he had and in later life he was able to locate some and they bacame friends again. God bless all who served and lost their lives and those that survived. by Doris M. Jones from Glendale, California, E-mail address: dmjlsj@aol.com |

On Sunday, August 5, 2001 at 01:53:31 a tribute was placed here to Honor FLOYD S. ROGERS AND JAMES S. ROGERS
My grandfather tell about watching a man get his head blown off but he kept on firing, that man was my grandfather's best friend aboard his ship. He also would remember shooting a jap plane out of the sky. He said that he bailed, smiled for a brief second and blew apart. I was told that before the world war two his hair was black but after it turned white. He has long since passed but those are the only things he ever said about the war. My dad was in the navy too. He remember going after downed pilots in Viet Nam and the Cuba crisis. My dad never talks much about his expriences, only his ship. I can understand. I wish there would be no more war. so people would no longer have to serve and/or die so far from home. by michelle rogers from harrisonburg virginia, E-mail address: jgcn@planetcom.net |

On Thursday, August 2, 2001 at 15:44:51 a tribute was placed here to Honor TSGT William A. Storti & CPL Toni Storti
Mom and Dad were both World War II Vets and have since passed on to be with their fellow veterans. My father was a crewmember on B-17's and my mom was cook in the Army. Both served their country with honor. Their names does not appear on any wall, honor roll or in history books. All I have are memories. My only regret is that they never saw their grandchildren or great grandchild. But I am sure they know. I love and miss you both. by Bill Storti from Cambridge, Massachusetts, E-mail address: bstorti@hotmail.com |
