TOUR, YOUR FATHER OUR PASTER WAS SO VERY PROUD. HE ALSO TOLD US AT A HOMECOMING DINNER THAT YOU HAD VOLUNTEERED FOR ANOTHER TOUR IN VIETNAM, THEN YOU SPOKE SAYING YOU HAD TO GO BACK BECAUSE OF ALL THE FRIENDS YOU LEFT OVER THERE. THAT IT WAS YOU DUTY TO KEEP AMERICAN FREE SO THIS COULD NOT HAPPEN IN THE USA. YOU WERE SO HANDSOME IN THE MARINE UNIFORM YOU WORE SO PROUDLY.

EIGHT MONTHS INTO YOUR 2ND. TOUR YOU GAVE THE HIGHEST PRICE YOUR LIFE. I WILL NEVER FORGET YOUR POINT OF VIEW OR YOUR DECATION. I ALSO WENT INTO THE SERVICE ARMY, MY TOUR NEVER MET THE HARD SHIPS YOU DO. BUT I REMEMBERD THINGS YOU SAID AN I WAS VERY PROUD TO SERVE MY COUNTRY AN I ALWAYS HOLD MY HEAD HIGH AND GAVE 110% OF WHATEVER WAS ASK OF ME. YOU GAVE ME HONOR TO BE THE BEST. and his brother. They came back because many of you did not. Dad volunteered to go to Singapore to take the place of a married man with a child.

You were my hero. It's not only because of your bravery at Normandy (D+1), the Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland and Ardennes, but because of the regular sacrifices you made to be such an important part of my life. May you rest in peace in the land of the heros.

My husband was very young when he was sent to Viet Nam. He went to serve his country. It wasn't a war he wanted to fight in but a duty he didn't shrink from. He served his 13 months in Viet Nam and returned to the states to only have someone spit on him at the airport. He served his county with pride though. He doesn't talk about Viet Nam much but I have seen his tears at the Viet Nam Wall Memorial. I know he still has pain that he holds in. He is someone I admire very much.

this is to honor my dad who gave me so much. he gave me life & a lifelong education & an appreciation for my country. he served in the navy from the outset of world war two as he was in the naval reserves. he was stationed in charleston s.c. & miami fla. where he taught other sailors about being a machinist mate. in 1944 he went to the phillipines on board the u.s.s. yosemite. my dad passed away in the summer of 1993 & i will always remember his sea stories & the guys he served with as he could still remember all their names after 50 years even though he had a stroke. i am a vietnam veteran so i know how warzones can forge friendships. dad til we meet again i love you & cherish the time we spent together

although i didn't know my great uncle leo personally i still have a picture of him & his gravesite at arlington. he was a member of co. b 107th engineers from michigan and served in france in world war one. he was wounded, sent to hospital where he contracted & died of pneumonia. i often wonder how he felt about serving his country in what must have been a very foreign environment but i feel he went with the highest regard for his country. i am a vietnam veteran so i have felt the pain of leaving country & kin so i salute you leo, & look forward to the day when we will meet & talk of our lives!

After twenty two years I still miss my Husband and very best friend. I will love and miss you always.

CAP'T PAUL CONA WAS A ROLL MODEL TO THE YOUTH OF THE SOUTH BROOKLYN AREA OF N.Y.C.....AT THE OUTSET OF WW2, PAUL WAS AN EARLY ENLISTEE IN THE MARINE CORP. HE WENT TO JUMP SCHOOL , AND WAS GIVEN HIS LT. BARS SOON AFTER...HE JUMPED WITH A UNIT IN BOUGAINVILLE. AS CAPTAIN, HE WAS IN THE FIRST WAVE TO HIT THE BEACH AT IWO JIMA. KILLED AS HE TOUCHED THE BEACH. HIS IST SGT. WAS WOUNDED AT THE SAME TIME AND REMOVED TO THE OFF SHORE HOSPITAL FACILITY. THE ATTENDING NURSE WAS PAUL'S SISTER. WHEN SHE RECOGNIZED THE SGT. SHE ASK HOW IS PAUL. THERE WAS NO OTHER WAY TO SAY, "HE IS DEAD." I AM 77 AND SERVED IN THE 84TH RAILSPLITTER DIVN. I KNEW MEN WHO DIED, WERE WOUNDED OR MISSING. PAUL STANDS OUT IN MY MIND AS A MAN WHO WAS A NATURAL LEADER. JUST THINK OF THE LOSS OF NOT ONLY PAUL BUT MEN LIKE HIM WHO COULD HAVE GIVEN SO MUCH IN PEACE TIME.

Mom, you went home to be with the Lord and Dad a year ago today. We miss you both so much and think of you everyday. We often forget what the price of freedom really is. We get busy with our life, job, family and day to day activities but you never let that get in the way of your love for Dad and your sons. Though you suffered great sorrow in his loss you stayed true to your one love all those years. I know that Dad was in full Navy dress waiting at the Gate for you when you went home last year and now once again you are together. This is in memory to you Mom and all the other women who lost loved ones while serving their country. Let us never forget the women who have lost their husbands while serving this great country. Behind every Marine, Sailor, Soldier and Airman are great strong women. We love you Mom and will see you and Dad at the East Gate one day.

I was only l8 months old when my father died. He was a 24 year old sailor stationed at Norfolk, Va. On 15 March 1951 my father and five other sailors attempted to return to their ship, in a small dingy. The dingy capsized in the rough water and all six sailors were lost. Thanks Dad for the price you paid that I was able to live free in the greatest country in the world and able to serve my country, as a Marine for 22 years. Thanks for giving me that honor. I love you Dad.

TO MY DAD WHOM I NEVER KNOW BECAUSE I WAS YOUNG WHEN YOU DIED, BUT MY MOTHER TOLD ME ALL ABOUT YOU. FROM WHAT SHE TOLD ME YOU WERE A GOOD FATHER AND WELL RESPECTED SOLDIER WHO SERVED IN WWII FOR YOUR COUNTRY. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND I LOVE YOU. GOD BLESS.

For over a year he put his life on the line, putting his chopper in front of MED choppers, laying cover for the guys on the ground. I never had the opportunity to know you, but I am sure proud of you. From your loving Neice.

My brave grandfather fought on Oknawa in WWII after the war he recieved a PURPLE HEART. Thank you for fighting for my freedom I will always love you.

My father served on Okinawa in the Seabees 19th CB in 1944-45. He was born in Vermont on October 4, 1919 and died there on January 20, 1960 at age 40. I know very little of his Navy years.

HE WAS IN THE NAVY DURING WW11. WITH COMPANY 116 D-10 AT CAMP PEARY VA.

NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT I DON'T THINK OF YOU AND AS I PASS THE HOUSE I EXPECT TO SEE YOU ON THE FRONT PORCH. YOU PASSED AWAY SO SUDDENLY AND WE KNOW NOW YOU ARE HAPPY AS YOU ARE WITH MOM.

My grandfather was a vetern, WWII, and nothing makes me more proud than being his granddaughter and now serving in the United States Air Force. He is dearly missed and will always be remembered.

MY FATHER WAS BORN IN PADEN CITY, WV ON MARCH 5,1926, HE SERVED IN THE NAVY DURING WW11.
HE PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY ON NOV. 18, 2001.
I MISS HIM SO MUCH AND THERE ISN'T A DAY THAT GOES BY THAT I DON'T THINK OF HIM. I MISS CALLING HIM THREE TIMES A DAY AND BEING WITH HIM ALMOST EVERY DAY. HE WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART. MY LOVE FOR HIM AND HAPPY THOUGHTS OF HIM WILL ALWAYS BE WITH ME.

We miss you Walt and your always in my thoughts. I still think of the 4 hours we spent together at the Inchon Harbor, when you were going Stateside and I remained behind to finish my tour. God Bless your soul and am loooking forward to the day we are together again. Your loving Brother

Uncle - Although you never knew I was on the way (You died in late 1962 in a tragic accident aboard the USS Oriskany and I was born in January 1963), I consider it an honor to bear your name.

In honor of my brother, "Bill", who gave his life for our country on 01/20/70 in Vietnam.

Bill, you are missed daily by all who were fortunate enough to have known you.

As a war godmother for Frederick, KIA on November 8, 1944, buried in Henri-Chapelle, I wanted to pay a tribute to all the American boys who came to my country to fight, and sometimes to die, for my freedom.

Through my godson, I thank you all.

Clyde, my brother was killed in combat during WW11 in Europe. He was only 30 years old at that time on 11 July, 1943. He was and is still dearly loved by his family of 5 brothers and 3 sisters. He has been gone many years, but seems only yesterday that we all laughed and talked about our future together. We love you very much and feel you are with us in spirit each day of our lives. You will always be with us and some day our family will all be together again in spirit. I love you very much.

MY FATHER DIED 11/18/01 - MY MOTHER'S BIRTHDAY. HE WAS 84 YEARS OLD AND HAD LEAD A FULL AND BUSY LIFE. AFTER RETIREMENT HE VOLUNTEERED FOR NUMEROUS ORGANIZATIONS AND IS MISSED BY MANY.

George served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the asiatic pacific region from June '46 to nov. '47. He passed away in Oct. 1998. He left his wife and two sons and five grandchildren... He was a wonderful, caring father and husband... We will always miss him... and remember him.

Harold was one of the Great Ones of the Greatest Generation, a Champion of the Disabled, a Veteran of WW II and a fellow Comrade of our American Legion Post.

Many only knew of Harold for his roll in the movie Best Years Of Our Lives, it was my honor to know him as a friend. A friend who spent his life not as a movie star, but as one who worked to help the disabled.

Thank You Friend, may you forever Rest in Peace at your Post Everlasting.

My brother was taken from us on Dec. 16th, 2001 in Guam. He served in the United States Navy for 15 yrs. Doug loved what he did, serving our country. He was my only brother, and a very special one at that. I miss him more and more as the days go by, he is deeply missed but not forgotten. I Love You Doug! Love your sis, Justine

Daddy was only 37 when he passed on from lung cancer. A wonderful father, grandfather of a new born grandson and awsome musician, everday that passes I miss him more and more. Ecspeacially his laugh. He gave life his all but it overcame him. He is missed and cherished always. His baby girl.

This is to honor the memory of Bill Sperb, Navy Corpsman, who gave his life to save others. Bill was shot down while extracting wounded Marines in Vietnam. He was planning on being a doctor when he got out. He was my best buddy and I will miss him forever.
