Sam E Thomas is my father and he fought in the Vietman war. When I was born; he was there. After I was 3 months old I met my daddy for the first time and never stopped loving him. He taught my sister, my brother, and me to honor our country and those who protect it. Thank you Daddy for the Fighting so we can be free.

I never knew him, but I have learned about him in my family history research.
He was a P.O.W. and served and died for our country in the Civil War.
Thank you to all the Brave American Soldiers who have fought and are still fighting in our American Military to keep Freedom in America and America Safe. Their devoted service will never be forgotten. Their sacrifice will live on forever in the hearts of all who cherish Freedom.

I was with you when you died on March 21, 1967. You have been in my thoughts and prayers over the many years since we were last together on the Bong Son Plain. You were and still remain, in my mind, the consumate soldier; responsible, dedicated, trustworthy and honorable.

I have been to the Wall and honored you and have recently tried to find where you are buried to honor your memory in person, but have been unsuccessful.

Christopher was a very patriotic young man.
He loved the Army,and enlsted in his hometown of Danielson Ct. He had graduated from Killingly high school in 2001. He held several jobs during his short life,but the Army was for him.He was killed in Iraq on June 21,2005.
May he rest in peace at Arlington Cemetary,with
our countrie's other heroes.

Sgt. John Watkins, served in the United States Army during WW2, Survived, and lived until July, 1994. After serving proudly for his country, he then served proudly for his family.
We love you "paw paw". You will always be in our thoughts, memories, and most of all, our hearts.

My grandfather just passed away last March 17, 2005. He was a WWII veteran and POW. I just wanted to let him know that he is still thought about every day and will be for a very long time to come. We miss you so much, papa!

We thank all those who served and continue to be engaged in the dangerous actions of securing and reconstructing Iraq and Afghanistan.

To those injured in the fight, our wishes for a swift recovery. May your injuries not be obstacles in leading a full, productive life. May God bless you and your loved ones with strength to face each day.

We pay special tribute to Soldiers, Sailors, Aviators, and Marines who paid the ultimate price. Our sympathies to their families and friends, for you too have paid a price.

In loving memory of my father, Herman R. Strobel, who served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II, as Major with the Ordnance Department, 3rd Air Depot, Agra, India, and continued serving in the United States Air Force Reserve until his honorable discharge on June 7, 1955. He is remembered by his family and friends as serving the United States of America with honor, dignity and devotion to God and country. He passed away on August 28, 1998, but will always be remembered with love, honor and pride.

This is for you Dad. I'm proud that you served your country during WWII in the Army Air Corp. You gave me a sense of pride in my country which led me to serve in the Navy after high school. I love you and miss you.

On that tragic day some 51 years ago (yesterday) 103 shipmates lost their lives to a massive port-catapult explosion and fire off the coast of Rhode Island. Last year, we dedicated a memorial to you, our shipmates, at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island. "As long as there is one left in whom your memory remains, you are not forgotten."

Charles is sadly missed and we thank him for his sacrifice.

With pride and gratitude for my son who served in OIF with the 1174th TC. You are our hero.

My heart felt thanks for all you had performed in the past, present and future. I served this Country for 37 years and retired. I am well aware of the sacrificies you are making as well as the families. Again thank you for supporting our Country.

In remeberance of the fine men who lost their
lives,when the USS Bennington had an explosion in May of 1954. THey now have a beautiful placque
at fort adam's park in New Port RI as a permanat memorial to all that were lost.
May they,and all who have honorably served our country,never be forgotten.

This is in memory of my uncle, 1st Lt. Joseph Cramer of Cairo, Ill., who gave his life to protect our country during WWll. I never met him, but was told what a great soldier and person he was. My father never let the memory of him die and I hope to preserve that same memory here. Thank you Uncle Joe.

You have touched me in so many ways, it is hard to say in words. After talking to your family it means more to me than you will ever know. He was my step-father, But he raised me and all my sisters and brothers. We all lived in North dakota in 1959 and when I was 5 yrs. we moved to California. One thing I will always remember about Dad is when ever he said something he would always do what he said. He worked hard. He served in the Army in Germany when he was 18 yrs. He passed on December 13, 2004. Mom passed January 03, 1997. We sure miss him and mom ..but they are together again..and my mom is bossing him around!! We Love you Both. Ernie spent the last few years of his life in a VA Nursing Home in Northport,NY. I had the pleasure of being one of the nurses to care for him and will always remember his smile and when he didn't like something his cry of "I'm coming back here with the F.B.I. and you're going to Yuma!" I would tell him "Great, I need a vacation" then we would both laugh. He lost his final battle last evening and he is missed by many.

Rick and I met at Camp Pendelton, 1966, for Escape & Evasion School. Rick could make anyone laugh (except for that Colonel at the PX!) and we became life long friends. We bummed around together with some of his High School buddies from Dubuque, IA after being discharged in 68-69. We lost touch (my loss) after I moved back to IL from sunny CA in '73. We had a few phone calls over the years and met one more time at the airport in St Louis (where I now live). I spent a couple of weeks at his parents (Louie/Vanita) house/restaurant and became friends with them also.
Rick called me in mid Dec '01 to say that he had cancer. I never spoke to him again as the cancer took him quickly. I miss his infectious sense of humor greatly. He gave me the nickname of "Monk" from the time he spent in Canada where it seems that everyone is called "Monk" -hey

This award is for my little brother Rich, He is my hero. I love him and miss him very much. I pray every day for his safety. He has been to deployed to Kosavo and Kuwait. He served in the Iraq War in 2003 and has just recently returned to Iraq to serve his country once again. He is a combat medic. COME HOME SAFE. WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU RICH.

When you were very young you decided that when you grew up you wanted to be a pilot. You did become that person. You went to Viet Nam at a very young age. You fought hard and was very courageous. You were shot down by an incoming missle, and then and there you thought your career was over, but it was not, you mended, you came back home, but you continued to serve your country. For 38 years you have been a hero, and today if you were called you would continue to do as you did years ago in a land far far away.

The Brentwood community has lost a total of 5 students, all from the 98, 00 and 03 classes. I was friends w/ 4 out of the 5. To their families and everyone still out there fighting the on going battle, god bless you all no matter where you may be!

It was fifty years,on May 26th 2004,that you brave men lost your lives in the explosion of the "BENNEY" that day in 1954. Your fello shipmates did not forget you. They got together,and had a beautiful placque,placed at Fort Adams State part in New Port RI,overlooking Narragansett Bay. Many fine folks attended,and arole call of your names called out.
I was fortunate enough to be one of the few Corpsman,that got to attend the ceromany,through an invitation. I was there on that day in 1954,and the fifty gone by years had not taken away our sadness for you men. You would be proud of them as they still are of you. Rest in peace,my fellow navy men.
